This site is applicable to all residents of South Africa and residents of some other countries who are eligible to apply for an Australian visa in South Africa. It will introduce you to the procedures involved in the visa application process.

For Prospective Applicants:

Applicants who wish to apply for a Visa are requested to kindly read the information on this site carefully. The guidelines listed on this site are to help you prepare your documents as accurately as possible. This will reduce the chances of your application being incomplete or a delay in being processed.

Since the 18 of April 2005, the Australian Government had put in place new arrangements to facilitate the lodgment of applications for an Australian visa in South Africa. South African residents applying for any Australian visa will now be able to lodge their applications at the four Australian Visa Application Centres in South Africa

South African residents will no longer be able to lodge their applications at the Australian High Commission in Pretoria, as these services will be provided at the four locations. Visa applicants will need to plan ahead of travel to obtain an Australian visa.

The Australian Visa Application Centers will provide excellent client-friendly services to ensure Applicants are not required to wait for extended periods.

Kindly note that no appointments are required to lodge applications at the VFS offices.

Each Centre will provide services to Applicants between the hours 8:00am and 16:00pm (Submission : 0800 - 1230 and 1330 - 1500 Hours) and Collection : 1330 - 1600 Hours (, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

The Australian Government has concluded an agreement with VFS (South Africa) to provide the new visa application and collection centers. as of 18th April 2005.

As of 6th December 2010, Zimbabwe applications can lodge directly with the VFS offices at Harare.

PS - The average processing time is 20 working days for Visa applications from Zimbabwe, hence clients who are lodging with flight bookings within that time period (i.e. less than 16 working days from time of lodgment given courier times etc) are hereby informed that the applications may not be finalised within that timeframe. If you still wish to lodge, kindly be prepared to change flight bookings accordingly.

Step 1 :	By Visiting the Australian Visa Application Centers: Applicants or their representative can visit the Australian Visa Application Centre located at these addresses (click here) to submit their applications.
Step 2 :	Each application must include the following: Completed Visa application form Photograph/s (not more than six months old) Completed and signed checklist Passport Documents as listed on the checklist. Visa Fee to be paid in a Bank Issued cheque VFS administrative fee to be paid into the VFS account

The application after assessment by the Australian High Commission, Pretoria can be collected from the Application Centre where the application was submitted.
